There are a wide variety of panic attack cures that you can find online or recommended by your doctor. Chances are, if you have gone the traditional route, after spending years and thousands of dollars on therapy, you may be wondering if panic attack cures will work at all. Let's cover some of the common types of cures and discuss their benefits and drawbacks, so we can arrive at a conclusion to this important question.
The first line of cures for many panic attack sufferers is prescription medication. I have seen two separate doctors for panic attacks, and both times I was prescribed Xanax. After taking the recommended dosage the anxiety completely disappeared from my life. This is a good thing, right? Well unfortunately, the other side-effects made it near impossible to continue this course of action. I was completely unable to focus on my job, I had zero short-term memory, and I even put a large dent in my brand new $30,000 truck. After about a week on the medication I dumped the pills down the drain and never looked back. Other doctors prescribe antidepressants, which have what's called a "titration" period. Titration is a period of adjustment while your doctor increases and lessens the dosage to get the perfect amount for you which is not too strong, but strong enough to prevent attacks. This period of adjustment can last months or years while you suffer from unnecessary side effects. Did you know over $600 billion dollars were spent in 2006 on prescription drugs? There is serious motivation for doctors to prescribe drugs, and while they are very important for some types of medical treatment, in my experience most panic attacks can be eliminated for good without pills.
The next type of cure we will cover is desensitization. This works by trying to invoke a panic attack in a controlled environment by reproducing the symptoms of a panic attack. For example, the doctor may spin you around in a chair, have you breathe through a straw, or run in place to increase your heart rate. After going through these sessions in a controlled environment, you should be better equipped to handle a panic attack the next time it occurs. However, even after years of therapy and thousands of dollars spent, many people still report that even though they knew better in their brain, they could not stop their body from going into panic mode.
The final type of cures that are gaining popularity, due to their affordability and quick results, are various psycholigically-proven methods that are available online. We explain some of these in detail in our reviews. The two most popular methods are Panic Away and The Linden Method. Check out the reviews for more details on these.
So now we come back to our original question: Do Panic Attack Cures Really Work? Well I can tell you, with a resounding "YES", that some of them do. I suffered from panic attacks from 1993 until 2002, and I'm happy to say that I have not experienced an attack since using the new psychological methods. Every day thousands of sufferers are finding permanent relief from anxiety and panic attacks using new psychological methods such as those recommended in our reviews. Check them out!
