Symptoms of a Severe Panic Attack

First off, I need to start with a warning: If you are experiencing a panic attack right now and this is the first time you have experienced the symptoms of a panic attack, seek medical attention right away. I advise this because the first time this occurs there is no way of knowing whether this is a genuine panic attack, or perhaps symptoms of another medical condition such as heart failure!

However, if you have had panic attacks before, and you know or suspect you are experiencing one right now, then continue to read on to see if you identify with the symptoms:

  • Claustrophobia.
  • Agoraphobia (fear of being around others).
  • Rapid heart rate, or heart palpitations.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Chest pain.
  • Dizziness.
  • Inability to think straight, i.e. brain fog.
  • Trouble swallowing.
  • Sense of impending death.
  • Fear that you are going crazy!
  • Faintness.
  • Hot Flashes.
  • Nausea.
  • Feeling out of control.
  • Intense fear that something bad is going to happen soon.

The above symptoms describe a severe panic attack. Usually panic attacks last for 5-10 minutes as the body is secreting large amounts of adrenaline into the bloodstream. Then, the adrenaline will ease off because the body just cannot keep up with that intense "fight or flight" adrenaline rush for very long. Imagine if you were walking in the woods and came across a large bear. All the resources your body has at its disposal would be preparing you to either fight, or run as fast as you can. The decision happens within minutes and the adrenaline surge also lasts for this short amount of time, although it may seem longer.

The problem is, as you well know, the peak of the attack may subside, but soon after it does, fear sets in as we worry about another impending attack. The body recharges its adrenaline stores and then WOOSH you are right back in the throes of another attack. This cycle can recur for hours as we are thrust into the symptoms of severe panic attack over and over again.

For those seeking immediate and long-term relief, there are two methods that work well and can be implemented right away. You can read about these in the comparison section of this site. Just know that you are not alone and that you too can join the thousands of others that have conquered panic disorder permanently.

It is no secret, panic attacks can ruin your life. You owe it to yourself to eliminate anxiety WITHOUT drugs today. Click here for more info.
